Wrap #13 contributor Laura Burke’s “somewhat psychedelic” still lifes tap into the artist’s fascination with memory, depicting scenes that ignore the physical restraints of real life. We talk to her in the latest edition of the magazine about how she builds her collage-like pieces and why her background as a printmaker continues to influence her work today.
Read excerpts from our interview with Laura below.
“Paradise for me means abundance. For this theme, I wanted to make something that felt attainable but otherworldly. A big bouquet, windows out to two different scenes, fruit and fish.”
“I like thinking about my pieces as snapshots of a party among inanimate objects. I want the viewer to feel like they walked in on something they weren’t meant to see.”
