Coffee and tea storage is a very important step in enjoying a cup at any time of day. Once you’ve found your perfect grounds, beans or leaves you'll want to keep your coffee and tea safely stored for maximum freshness and flavour until it's time to make a brew. Find some handy hints and tips for storage below and scroll down for the newest additions to the Wrap Coffee Tin collection.
According to the National Coffee Association, these are the top 3 things you should be doing to preserve your coffee.
-
Take it out of the retail packaging. Your coffee often comes in packaging that is not ideally designed for long-term storage. Using an airtight container for coffee storage will help it stay fresher, longer – especially pre-ground coffee.
-
Store it in opaque containers. Clear canisters let in light, which can compromise the taste of your coffee.
-
Keep it in a dark and cool location. Avoid cabinets near the oven or dishwasher, as well as any areas that get strong afternoon sun—all can get too warm.
Just like coffee, there are many factors that can ruin tea, so make sure that your loose leaf or teabags are stored properly. Below are some basic rules to follow to ensure that your tea doesn't lose flavour.
-
Light, heat, humidity or moisture, air, and strong smells can ruin a good tea so store it in an opaque, airtight container.
-
Keep your teas away from windows and hot kitchen areas, and keep them in a cool, dark place.
-
Use a food safe container such as stainless steel that won't compromise the flavour
